Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2022 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.
Athletes from all 50 states along with Washington, D.C. were selected. Some notable selections include Caleb Downs of Mill Creek (Hoschton, Ga.), who helped the Hawks to the school's first state title; Roderick Robinson of Lincoln (San Diego) who led the Hornets to their first state championship and rushed for nearly 2,400 yards and 37 touchdowns; Jackson Arnold of Guyer (Denton, Texas) who accounted for 4,400 yards of total offense and 57 scores for one of the best teams in the Lone Star State; and Rueben Bain of Miami Central (Miami) who racked up 29 sacks while leading the Rockets to a fourth consecutive state title.
For an in-depth look at every selection each player's story is linked that includes their bio and list of accomplishments.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released Jan. 10.
